Driving & Education Courses
Driving and educational courses are required for new drivers, insurance discounts and for certain driving violations. Florida's Driver Improvement System is multi-faceted and targets specific areas of driver problems and concerns. The system is largely administered through the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). However, other public and private organizations play a major contributing role. The programs within the system are paid for by those who use them, not the Florida taxpayers.

Motorcycle Endorsements
As of July 1 2008, new motorcyclists must take and pass the Basic Rider Course through the Florida Rider Trainer Program before they can have the motorcycle endorsement added to their license, per Section 322.12(5)(a)., Florida Statutes. Upon successful completion, the sponsor will submit the pass results electronically to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle records. Once the results are received, the applicant may purchase a duplicate license including the motorcycle endorsement for $38.25 (a renewal with endorsement is $61.25).
