FISHING LICENSES
Freshwater Fishing Licenses
All persons freshwater
fishing in Florida must possess a valid freshwater fishing license,
excluding those entitled to the following exemptions:
- Any individual under 16 years of age;
- Florida residents 65
years of age or older that can show proof of age and residency...
such as provided by a Florida Driver's License or ID Card (issued after Jan. 1 2010 and valid for 6 or more months), or a voter registration
card;
- Individuals fishing with live or natural bait, using
poles or hand lines that are not equipped with reel or other line
retrieval mechanism, such as a cane pole, for noncommercial purposes
(Note: This exemption does not apply in Fish Management
Areas);
- Florida residents who are totally and permanently disabled who have been issued a
temporary special permit; and,
- Military personnel who
are residents of Florida and are home on leave for a period of 30
days or less and have valid orders in their possession.
Freshwater fishing
licenses may be purchased from the Tax Collector's Office as follows:
- A Resident annual 64 or older hunting and fishing license (lifetime) is $13.50 - For more info, click here;
- A Resident annual
freshwater fishing license is $17.00;

A Resident
combination annual hunting & freshwater fishing license is $32.50;
- A Non-resident
annual freshwater fishing license is $47.00
- A Non-resident 7 day freshwater fishing
license is $30.00.
- A Non-resident 3 day freshwater fishing
license is $17.00.
Note: To qualify for any resident hunting and fishing license proof of residency is required. You must provide Date of Birth along with any one of the following for proof of residency:
- Florida DL or ID # (issued after Jan. 1, 2010 and valid for 6 or more months)
- Customer ID# (number already in TLS system)
- Social Security # & FL Homestead Exemption
- Social Security # & FL Voter Registration
- Social Security # & FL Landlord Certification
- Social Security # & FL Military Orders
- Social Security # & FL Student ID Card - 18 or Under
- Social Security # & Parents Proof of Residency
Hunting and
fishing licenses may be purchased at at one of the Tax
Collector's Service Centers.
These licenses are also available online over the telephone.

Saltwater Fishing Licenses
All persons saltwater
fishing in Florida must possess a valid saltwater fishing license,
excluding those entitled to the following exemptions:
- Any individual under 16
years of age;
- Florida residents 65
years of age or older that can show proof of age and residency...
such as provided by a Florida Driver's License or ID Card (issued after Jan. 1 2010 and valid for 6 or more months), or a voter registration
card;
- Florida residents who saltwater fish from land or a structure fixed to land who have been determined eligible for the food stamp, temporary cash assistance, or Medicaid Program by the Department of Children and Family Services. (Proof of identification and a benefit issuance or program identification card issued by DCFS or the Agency for Health Care Administration must be on the person fishing);
- Florida residents who
are totally and permanently disabled who have been issued a special
permit;
- Military personnel who
are residents of Florida and are home on leave for a period of 30
days or less and have valid orders in their possession; and,
- Any individual fishing
from a boat that has been issued a vessel saltwater fishing license.
Saltwater fishing
licenses may be purchased from the Tax Collector's Office as follows:
- A Resident annual
saltwater shoreline only fishing license is $0.00 (license required at no cost);
- A Resident annual
saltwater fishing license is $17.00;
- A Non-resident
annual saltwater fishing license is $47.00;
- A Non-resident 7
day saltwater fishing license is $30.00;
- A Non-resident 3
day saltwater fishing license is $17.00;
- A Snook permit is
$10.00;
- A Tarpon tag is $51.50 (Not available in Polk County - available only from Tax Collectors in coastal counties); and,
- A Lobster permit is $5.00.
