OATH TO BE ADMINISTERED TO CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS
01/02/01 - BARTOW
Polk County’s Constitutional Officers will be administered their respective Oaths of Office in a
ceremony to be conducted on, Friday, January 5th, beginning at 4:00 PM, in Polk County’s Historic
Courthouse.
The Officers to be sworn-in are:
The Honorable Jerry Hill, State Attorney
The Honorable J. Marion Moorman, Public Defender
The Honorable Richard Weiss, Clerk of the Circuit Court
The Honorable Lawrence Crow, Jr., Sheriff
The Honorable Marsha M. Faux, Property Appraiser
The Honorable Joe G. Tedder, Tax Collector
The Honorable Lori Edwards, Supervisor of Elections
Presiding over the ceremony will be Dr. James M. Denham, Professor of History and Director of the Florida Lecture Series at Florida Southern College. Dr. Denham has written extensively on Florida historical events. His has cowritten a new entitled. "The History of Florida Sheriffs: 1821-1945." Other works include authoring a book with Canter Brown, Jr., entitled, "Craker Times and Pioneer Lives the Florida: Reminiscences of George Keen and Sarah Pamela Williams" and the authoring of "A Rogue's Paradise: Crime and Punishment in Atebellum Florida, 1821-1861."
Following the ceremony, a reception will be held until 6:30 PM in the Historic Courthouse in honor
the Constitutional Officers.
The ceremony and reception are open to the public.
