TALLAHASEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) has announced a change to all driver license and identification cards issued and renewed on and after July 31, 2024. There will be at least four randomly generated numbers assigned to driver licenses and ID cards, as required by state law. “This new system aims to improve security and safeguard individuals’ identities,” according to the FLHSMV news release.
The Office of the Tax Collector for Polk County (TCPC) recommends those customers issued new numbers contact their employers, financial institutions, insurance companies, medical offices and others, to be sure to notify them of the change.
