Polk County Property Owners Should Expect to Receive Tax Bills By Mail Soon

BARTOW, Fla. Property owners in Polk County should soon receive a 2024 Property Tax Notice by mail. However, property owners can go online to www.PolkTaxes.com and access a copy of their tax bill(s) even before they receive them by mail! Click here to search for your account.

Each year when the Office of the Tax Collector for Polk County (TCPC) mails these tax bills, a number of them will be returned to sender as “not deliverable” due to an incorrect address. Tax Collector Joe G. Tedder reminds citizens that state law dictates it is their responsibility to pay what they owe regardless of whether they received the tax bill by mail. The only exception to this is that property owners who have opted to pay by an installment plan will not receive a November bill. Instead, they will be notified in late November that the third quarter installment payments are due December 31.

Anyone who does not have access to find their bill(s) online and has not received it by mail by November 12 should call TCPC at (863) 534-4700. A special message from the Tax Collector is available here: https://youtu.be/aisM1UNCIOE.)

If paying:

ONLINE – Go to www.PolkTaxes.com and follow the online payment instructions.

BY MAIL – Please use the return envelope provided with the tax bill and include the lower portion of the notice with your payment.

IN PERSON – Payments are accepted at the Tax Collector’s Bartow Service Center, located at 430 E. Main Street; Davenport Service Center at 2000 Deer Creek Commerce Lane; Lake Alfred Service Center at 200 Government Center Boulevard; at the Lake Wales Service Center at 658 Highway 60 W; and Lakeland Service Center at 916 N. Massachusetts Avenue.

For the taxpayer’s convenience, there is a helpful list of taxing authorities and their contact information inserted into mailed bills; additionally, these details can be found at PolkTaxes.com, along with a sample tax bill.

Tedder encourages taxpayers to take advantage of discounts for early payment of property taxes! Early payment discounts are available as follows: 4% in November; 3% in December; 2% in January; and 1% in February. Taxes are due in March

“We emphasize how helpful discounts like the 4% in November can be and hope people can save as much money as possible,” Tedder said, “because we know big one-time expenditures can be tough to handle.”

All unpaid property taxes for the 2024 tax year become delinquent on April 1, 2025.
