BARTOW, Fla. – Tax Collector for Polk County Joe G. Tedder announces the season’s office closures, so people can plan ahead to hopefully avoid the holiday rush!
All offices, to include all five Service Center locations and the Call Center, will be closed:
- Monday, December 25, 2023
- Tuesday, December 26, 2023
- Monday, January 1, 2024
“Please remember, the last business day of the month is always a busy day. It’s even busier in December! Our lobbies can easily become very packed when you combine motor vehicle services, tax services, plus the heavy truck and mobile home renewals that come due,” Tedder warns.
Tedder encourages customers to use payment options that avoid walk-in service:
- Online payments can be made at www.PolkTaxes.com.
- In order to receive the 3% Property Tax Discount for December, online payments will be accepted until 11:59 a.m. on Sunday, December 31; mail-in payments must be postmarked before December 31; payments in person will receive the discount through January 2.
- The Express Pick-Up option is available for same-day services (submitted by 4:00 p.m.) at www.PolkTaxes.com.
- First Lakeland Tag Agency on Florida Avenue in Lakeland conducts vehicle title and tag registration services. (Note: They do not accept credit card payments.)
- The American Legion Tag Agency in Winter Haven accepts property tax payments in its lobby drop box during regular business hours as well as conducts vehicle title and tag registration services.
- KIOSK services are available at Lakeland and Davenport service center locations, and at Publix in Lakeland in the Plantation Square and Grove Park shopping centers.
(NOTE: Our partners First Lakeland Tag Agency on Florida Avenue in Lakeland will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day; The American Legion Tag Agency in Winter Haven will be closed on December 25 and 26 and on New Year’s Day.)
