Property Tax Bills Will Be Delivered to Polk County Mailboxes Soon

POLK COUNTY, Fla. Property owners across Polk County can expect to receive their tax bills in mailboxes soon; however, the 2025 Property Tax Notice is already available through the Tax Collector’s site, at www.PolkTaxes.com! By paying early during the month of November, property owners can take advantage of a 4% discount on what’s owed.

Tax Collector Joe Tedder encourages taxpayers to access their bills and make payments online, and to take advantage of the discounts offered for paying early. The discount for payments made in November is 4%, December is 3%, January is 2%, and February is 1%. Taxes are due in March and become delinquent on April 1.

“We truly want citizens to take advantage of every discount available to them when it comes to paying their property taxes. That’s why we emphasize November’s 4% discount,” Tedder says.

Each year, the Tax Collector’s Office receives a number of tax bills back as returned mail due to a “not deliverable” address.

“It’s important to know,” he adds, “Florida law says taxpayers have the responsibility to pay their taxes even if they haven’t received a tax bill from us. Please reach out to us or go online to find your bill if you have not gotten it through the mail by mid-November.”

(The only exception to this is that property owners who have opted to pay by installment; they will be notified in late November that the third quarter installment payments are due December 31.)

Anyone who does not have access to find their tax bill(s) online and who has not received it (them) in the mail by November 12 should call (863) 534-4700.

This is part of the Polk County Tax Collector’s new Kids Tax Art program! This comes at no cost to taxpayers, as there is no additional printing cost, and a scholarship prize for the student was graciously donated by program sponsor Southern Homes.

Congratulations to Lakeland High School student Kids Tax Art award & scholarship recipient, Hope Hallock! Her piece, “Between Bite and Bait” will be featured on the envelope of the 2025 Property Tax Notice.
