Vehicle registrations must be renewed on or before the designated expiration date.
When renewing a vehicle registration, proof of current Florida automobile insurance is required, which includes the insurance company’s name, policy number, and vehicle identification number (VIN).
Whenever possible, customers are encouraged to take advantage of mail and online services.

Registration renewals may also be obtained by using a kiosk (for autos only), visiting an approved Tag Agency (excludes mobile homes), or visiting a Tax Collector’s Service Center. For Service Center locations and available services information, click here.
Note: Failure to renew the vehicle tag and registration before the 11th day of the month following its expiration will result in a penalty fee to be charged upon late renewal. Furthermore, it is a violation of the law to operate an automobile on Florida’s roadways without a current registration and license plate. Mobile Homes that do not have a current registration or display a valid decal are subject to tangible personal property tax assessment and taxation.
Also Note: The Tax Collector provides renewal notices as a courtesy to resident vehicle owners. The courtesy renewal notices are mailed approximately 3 weeks prior to the birth month or month in which the renewal is due. Florida law does not require vehicle registration renewal notices for vehicles, and failure to receive a renewal notice by mail does not relieve the automobile owner of their responsibility to the timely renewal of their vehicle registrations and license plates.
